<Back>

(Khaznad, Handsom, Optimus, Blair, Turil)

The others set off to explore the cave, but Khaznad doesn't want to let the kobold meat go to waste, so he stays behind to finish drying the kobold jeky and makes some bone darts out of the kobold ribs.

When done Khaznad sets off to catch up with the others, and walks into the cave. finding several corpses, and stumbles across some kind of violet fungus, decides to cut of some pieces to try to use as spice for later.

Meets up with the others a couple of rooms in, and notice a new human with them that introduces himself:

Khaznad congratulate Handsom and Optimus on the occasion, and offers everyone some smoked Kobold jerky to celebrate. It seems they don't like it, and Handsom and Optimus ends up standing in a corner croaking and emptying their stomach in a corner of the room, just as Khaznad hears enemies approaching.

Khaznad cleverly hide a spike growth trap in the hallway to trap them when they enter the room, the two guard drakes rushes past it, but all the kobolds gets stuck for fear of tearing their legs to pieces, but two kobolds have wings and flies in over the drakes.

The others seems afraid of the drakes, so Khaznad is left to deal with them alone, and have to fight tooth and claw against them. Finally the others help out a bit, and we manage to take down both drakes, and Khaznad jumps up and catches the last flying kobold. After that the normal kobolds die quickly. And Khaznad is busy butchering up meat, hide and bones from the drakes.

Chapter: To the Bat Cave

(Khaznad, Handsom, Optimus, Blair, Turil)

Exploring further we walk through a cave with a gate where they had held the drakes, but is now empty so we continue.

The next room has several exits and the entire roof oc the cave is fill with sleeping bats. Handsom's son and Khaznad sneaks across and tries to look at all the rooms, but then someone trips, and all the bats wakes up and starts fying around like crazy. And in the chaos a couple of stirges latches onto the adventurers.

Khaznad gets to the other side of the cave, and bites off one stirge, and rips another with his claws, before he uses a spell to conjure fire to create a torch and frighten away the bats. Khaznad shouts at the others to gather on him and Handsom's son at the east-side passage, where we can ward off the bats. But the others are busy in the middle of the room with all the bats and stirges, fighting things they can barely see and rolling around on the ground.

Finally Optimus and Blair comes crawling in the right direction, but Handsom starts running after something toward the north cave. Khaznad yells to Optimus to light a torch and stand watch, and runs off after Handsom.

Chapter: Kobolds Pit

Khaznad finds Handsom that have stumbled into the north cave, and down into a huge cave filled with dirt and trash, looks like the kobolds have used this as a dump. Handsom is standing at the bottom, stomping on a dead stirge, while holding his ugly looking stuffed cow udder up in the air and trumpeting weird sounds.

Before Khaznad can ask Handsom to come back, something attacks Handsom right out of the trash, and a really ugly mosnter of some kind appears to dig its way out of the dirt. Khaznad yells to Optimus to come help, as he throws the fire in his hand down at he nearest of these monsters, and jump down on the next plateau, landinf on his belly and gliding forward to the edge to reach out to grab Handsom's hand to pull him up. But just as he grabs his hand, one of the monsters rakes his claws over Handsom's back and he collapses bleeding on the ground.

The monsters seemingly lose interest in Handsom and starts swarming Khaznad as he is laying face down on the middle plateau, nauseated by their horrible stench. Hurt, Khaznad change into a giant lizard and runs up one of the stone pillars, the monsters can't follow, and he sneaks through the bats in the roof of the other room, and falls down in front of Optimus, that hasn't heard a single thing Khaznad has yelled to him earlier.

Khaznad yells at him to go save Handsom, while he uses a spell to heal himself up, and wondering how humans can survive with such bad hearing, you'd think that humans would be more worried about their spouses.

By some luck, the monsters have ran off, leaving Handsom unconcious but alive. But they've stolen his waterskin and the ugly stuffed cow udder, which he seems heartbroken over for some reason.

The others tells that they've been exploring the eastern cave, which was cold and full of weird meat, and they've fought some kind of terrible blanket or carpet, Khaznad is confused, and slightly annoyed at how carefree humans are.

But first, they go back to the room with the pen, to rest.

(Khaznad, Handsom, Turil)

The adventurers are ambushed as they try to sleep, by some dragon cultists armed with metal claws, they barely win but Khaznad is left dying on the ground before the last is killed. They decide to retreat back to the forest outside and rest there.

The next day they return to the cave, and decide to going south this time, but are ambushed by two raider guards hiding behind some stalagmites, Khaznad pounces them in Deinonychus form.

Going into the western-most room they find a drunken raider, after killing him Handsom puts on his robe to look like a cultist. Pretending to be a cultist he gets into the next room and distracts the guard in the next room, so Turil can sneak up and kill him. Then we kill off the rest of the guards while they still sleep. Khaznad is pleased, very efficient plan, there might be some hope for these humans after all.

They don't find anyone in the next room, but several books and chests and a map. One of the chests contains a purple dress of human design, Khaznad noticed the map, the others read the books and takes the dress. In the other end of the room there is a shaft leading down to another room with a rope leading down, so they remove the rope and goes back.

Chapter: The Cave: Showdown

(Khaznad, Handsom, Turil)

Going back through the main cave, taking the third middle path they haven't tried yet, they walk down a ten feet wide cave leading into a big room, with several dragon motives around the walls. There we meet Cyanwrath, a human magician that probably is Morghana judging from what raiders have said, and two tough looking brutish human bodyguards.

Khaznad cast a spell to create fog to obscure sight, and yells at the others to run back to the tunnel we came through, to regroup and possibly hold them at a choke point. But Turil wearing the purple dress gets cut off, and the thugs splits them up.

Handsom gets heavily damaged by the thugs, Turil is cut down by the last thug, while Cyanwrath is beating up Khaznad again and nearly cutting him down with his greatsword. When Morghana cast a spell that creates an aura around her that damages the adventurers with corruptive energies. the adventurers all fall down dying.

Khaznad manages by pure luck and by the grace of Ubtao to pull of a last shapechange and bleeding with one arm almost cut off, manages to crawl out over the roof as a lizard, blending into the background. Crawling out the hole where we removed the rope earlier, he heals up as well as he can, and runs off back to the forest to rest up.
